Internet Shopping, a gift or a curse?

Since the invention of internet shopping people from all around the world have been able to experience the joy of owning a unique piece of clothing or item from a store which has no base in that country.
This has lead to a boom in the amount and variety in shopping websites on the internet. These sites offer anything you could think of owning and all those you could never dream of having. This boom can only be likened to the boom in the 50’s and 60’s of the catalogue shopping period. This was a period when many people began to find the convince of getting someone else to shop for you, all you had to do was look through the catalogue, choose a colour, style and size. Then simply post the order form off with the money inside and wait for your ‘happy package’ then try on all the items. This aloud another shopping style to come forward at home parties, Tupperware parties. These were where an elected woman from the Tupperware Company would come to a person’s house, serve food and show a selection of Tupperware’s. Many people would attend the parties as it was a chance to see and order the items that were liked. Internet shopping has become increasingly popular in the recent 10 years, as it is an chance for people to have access to previously inaccessible items. This has lead to a major spike in the popularity of many clothing brands such as ‘Topshop’ http://www.topshop.com , ‘Acne’ http://shop.acnestudios.com/ and ‘Forever 21’ http://www.forever21.com/ . Are the leaders of the pack when it comes to internet shopping, these site all ship worldwide with a cost of course. They allow there shoppers a wide range of clothing and often clothes that are only offered online. It is an excellent way to cut costs and allow the brands a chance to see if they would be popular in another country.
With all these advantages of internet shopping many shops have lost their regular customers and are now having to use the shops as a form of advertisement. With the brand name everywhere why wouldn’t you trust buying their products online? Shops are also drawing customers back with the added extras they are offering, such as the Channel New York store has changing rooms with mirrors that act as cameras and can photograph you from behind so when you turn around you can see what the clothing looks like. Others simply offer a personal shopper who will help you choose clothes that suit you. Sadly some people really need that help!!! (But they don’t know it!!!)
Thanks to internet shopping you can see what the rest of the world offers and are wearing, but if you ask me, trying on the clothes will never get boring for me. The worst thing is ordering clothes that don’t fit…hmmm can I say ops..waste of moneys!!
